
On September 18, 2025, Nairobi witnessed the official unveiling of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the World Taekwondo Under 21 Championships 2025, an event set to be held from December 3 to 6, 2025, at the Moi International Sports Complex Kasarani.
The ceremony took place at the Mercure Hotel, Upperhill, bringing together prominent officials including the Principal Secretary (PS) for Sports, PS for Tourism, Ministry of Sports and Department of Sports officials, alongside other state officials. The Korean Ambassador to Kenya also attended, symbolizing the strong diplomatic and cultural ties underpinning this prestigious championship.
In a ceremonial highlight, the Korean Ambassador handed over the championship flag to the PS for Sports, who then passed it on to the President of the Kenya Taekwondo Federation (KTF), the Chairperson of the LOC. This gesture marked a formal commitment to excellence and international cooperation in hosting the championships.
Corporate representatives from various industries were also present, showcasing broad support from the private sector for the event’s successful execution.
The World Taekwondo Under 21 Championships 2025 promises to bring together young athletes worldwide, highlighting Kenya’s capacity to host major international sporting events and inspiring future generations of martial artists.
As preparations accelerate, the LOC is dedicated to delivering a world-class championship that will leave a lasting legacy on Kenyan sports.
